Abu Ubaydah (may Allah have mercy on him) said that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O people of the Qur'an, pray witr. Indeed Allah Almighty is Witr (One) and He loves witr." A Bedouin said: What did the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say? Abu Ubaydah said: It is neither for you nor for your companions.
A group narrated it in this way from al-Thawri. It is said that al-Thawri did not hear it from Amr; he only heard it from a man, from Amr. It has also been narrated from Abd al-Majid bin Abd al-Aziz bin Abi Rawwad from al-Thawri with Abdullah mentioned in it, and that is not mahfuz (preserved). With the mention of Abdullah bin Mas'ud in it, the hadith is munqati' (broken-chained), because Abu Ubaydah did not meet his father.
