Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had a gold ring made. He (peace and blessings be upon him) used to keep its stone towards his palm, and the people also had rings made. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) threw it away and then had a silver ring made. That ring then remained on the hand of him (peace and blessings be upon him), of Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him), of Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) and of Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him), until it fell into the well of Aris.
