Sayyiduna Ali bin Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) said that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade a gold ring, silk and yellow-dyed clothing, and reciting the Qur'an in prostration. He said: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gave me a striped silk garment. I went out wearing it, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Ali, I did not give it to you to wear." He said: I went back, tore the garment, and said to Sayyidah Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her): "Wear it yourself and give it to the other women as well."
