أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ الْقَاضِي وَأَبُو سَعِيدِ بْنُ أَبِي عَمْرٍو قَالَا: ثنا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ، ثنا حَجَّاجٌ قَالَ: قَالَ ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ: سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ أَبِي مُلَيْكَةَ يَقُولُ: أَخْبَرَنِي عَلْقَمَةُ بْنُ وَقَّاصٍ قَالَ: كَانَ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ يَقْرَأُ فِي الْعَتَمَةِ بِسُورَةِ يُوسُفَ وَأَنَا فِي مُؤَخَّرِ الصُّفُوفِ حَتَّى إِذَا جَاءَ ذِكْرُ يُوسُفَ سَمِعْتُ نَشِيجَهُ فِي مُؤَخَّرِ الصَّفِّ ".
Alqamah bin Abi Waqqas narrates: Sayyiduna Umar bin al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) was reciting Surah Yusuf in the Isha prayer, and I was standing in the last rows. When he reached the mention of Yusuf (peace be upon him), I heard, in the last row, the sound that came from his chest as he wept.
