وَأَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ، ثنا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ الصَّغَانِيُّ، ثنا زَكَرِيَّا بْنُ عَدِيٍّ، أنبأ عُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عَمْرٍو، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَقِيلٍ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أُسَامَةَ بْنِ زَيْدٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ: كَسَانِي رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قُبْطِيَّةً كَثِيفَةً أَهْدَاهَا لَهُ دِحْيَةُ الْكَلْبِيُّ فَكَسَوْتُهَا امْرَأَتِي، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " مَا لَكَ لَا تَلْبَسُ الْقُبْطِيَّةَ؟ " قُلْتُ: كَسَوْتُهَا امْرَأَتِي، فَقَالَ: " مُرْهَا فَلْتَجْعَلْ تَحْتَهَا غِلَالَةً فَإِنِّي أَخَافُ أَنْ تَصِفَ عِظَامَهَا ".
Muhammad bin Usamah bin Zayd narrates from his father (Sayyiduna Usamah bin Zayd, may Allah be pleased with them both) that he said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) clothed me with a thick Coptic cloth which Dihyah al-Kalbi (may Allah be pleased with him) had given him as a gift. I gave that cloth to my wife to wear, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Why did you not keep it for yourself?" I said: I gave it to my wife to wear. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Then tell her to wear an undergarment beneath it, for I fear it may show the shape of her bones."
