It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Once Satan came to me. I seized him and strangled him until I felt the coldness of his tongue on my hand. He began to say: 'You have hurt me.' Had Sulayman (peace be upon him) not made the supplication 'My Lord, forgive me and grant me a kingdom such as will not belong to anyone' [Surah Sad: 35], he would certainly have been found in the morning tied to one of the pillars of the mosque, with the children of the people of Madinah looking at him."
