أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ، أنبأ أَبُو بَكْرٍ الْجَرَّاحِيُّ، ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ شَاسَوَيْهِ، ثنا عَبْدُ الْكَرِيمِ السُّكَّرِيُّ، ثنا وَهْبُ بْنُ زَمْعَةَ، أَخْبَرَنِي عَلِيٌّ الْبَاشَانِيُّ قَالَ: سَأَلْتُ عَبْدَ اللهِ يَعْنِي ابْنَ الْمُبَارَكِ عَنِ الَّذِي إِذَا دَعَا مَسَحَ وَجْهَهُ قَالَ: " لَمْ أَجِدْ لَهُ ثَبْتًا " قَالَ عَلِيٌّ: وَلَمْ أَرَهُ يَفْعَلُ ذَلِكَ قَالَ: وَكَانَ عَبْدُ اللهِ " يَقْنُتُ بَعْدَ الرُّكُوعِ فِي الْوِتْرِ وَكَانَ يَرْفَعُ يَدَيْهِ ".
Ali al-Bashani (may Allah have mercy on him) said: I asked Abdullah bin al-Mubarak (may Allah have mercy on him) about a person who wipes his face with his hands when supplicating. He said: "I have not found any proof for it." Ali said: I did not see him doing that. He (may Allah have mercy on him) himself used to recite the qunut in the witr after the bowing, and he also used to raise his hands.
