Sayyiduna Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) mentioned the ablution of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). He says that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to wipe the inner corners of his eyes, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The ears are part of the head."
(b) Sulayman bin Harb (may Allah have mercy on him) says: This is the saying of Sayyiduna Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him). (c) Hammad (may Allah have mercy on him) says: I do not know whether this is the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) or of Sayyiduna Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him).
(d) Qutaybah (may Allah have mercy on him), narrating from Sinan bin Rabi'ah, said: In my book the word is "al-ma'qayn", and it is the same in the narration of Ibn Dasah (may Allah have mercy on him).
(e) Abu Sulayman (may Allah have mercy on him) explained "al-ma'qayn" as the corner of the eye next to the nose, which is where tears come out. In the previous narrations the wiping of the head and both ears is mentioned in brief, and its manner is given in this narration.
