(a) It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Zayd (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) performed ablution: he washed his face three times, his hands twice, wiped his head twice and washed his feet twice.
Imam al-Nasa'i (may Allah have mercy on him) recorded the narration in the same way in "Kitab al-Sunan" from Sufyan bin Uyaynah, with the wiping of the head mentioned twice.
(b) Malik, Wuhayb, Sulayman bin Bilal, Khalid al-Wasiti and others differed from him, and narrated from Amr bin Yahya that the head was wiped once, except that he said: he moved the hands from front to back and from back to front.
