أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ، أنبأ أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ، أنبأ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى، ثنا سَعِيدُ بْنُ عَامِرٍ، ثنا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ مِسْعَرٍ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ الْفَقِيرِ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ قَالَ: " كُنَّا نَقْرَأُ فِي الظُّهْرِ وَالْعَصْرِ، خَلْفَ الْإِمَامِ فِي الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ الْأُولَيَيْنِ بِفَاتِحَةِ الْكِتَابِ وَسُورَةٍ، وَفِي الْأُخْرَيَيْنِ بِفَاتِحَةِ الْكِتَابِ " وَمِنْهُمْ أَبُو سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيُّ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ.
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both): We used to recite Surah al-Fatihah and another surah along with it behind the imam in the first two rak'ahs of Zuhr and Asr, and only Surah al-Fatihah in the last two rak'ahs. Among them is Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him).
