أَخْبَرَنَاهُ أَبُو الْحَسَنِ عَلِيُّ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ عُمَرَ الْمُقْرِئُ ابْنُ الْحَمَامِيِّ بِبَغْدَادَ، أنبأ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ سَلْمَانَ الْفَقِيهُ، ثنا أَبُو الْأَحْوَصِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْهَيْثَمِ قِرَاءَةً عَلَيْهِ ثنا أَبُو تَوْبَةَ الرَّبِيعُ بْنُ نَافِعٍ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ، عَنْ أَبِي قِلَابَةَ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَمَّا قَضَى صَلَاتَهُ أَقْبَلَ عَلَيْهِمْ بِوَجْهِهِ، فَقَالَ: " أَتَقْرَءُونَ فِي صَلَاتِكُمْ وَالْإِمَامُ يَقْرَأُ؟ " فَسَكَتُوا، فَقَالَ لَهُمْ ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ، فَقَالَ قَائِلٌ أَوْ قَائِلُونَ: إِنَّا لَنَفْعَلُ قَالَ: " لَا تَفْعَلُوا لِيَقْرَأْ أَحَدُكُمْ بِفَاتِحَةِ الْكِتَابِ فِي نَفْسِهِ ".
Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) led the prayer, and when he (peace and blessings be upon him) finished the prayer, he turned (towards us) and said: "Do you recite in your prayers?" The Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) remained silent. He (peace and blessings be upon him) asked three times, and someone said: "We do so." He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do not recite; let each of you recite only Surah al-Fatihah within himself."
