أَخْبَرَنَاهُ أَبُو بَكْرٍ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ الْفَقِيهُ، أنبأ عَلِيُّ بْنُ عُمَرَ الْحَافِظُ، ثنا ابْنُ صَاعِدٍ، ثنا عُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ سَعْدٍ، ثنا عَمِّي، ثنا أَبِي عَنِ ابْنِ إِسْحَاقَ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي مَكْحُولٌ بِهَذَا وَقَالَ فِيهِ: وَقَالَ: " إِنِّي لَأَرَاكُمْ تَقْرَءُونَ خَلْفَ إِمَامِكُمْ إِذَا جَهَرَ؟ " قُلْنَا: أَجَلْ وَاللهِ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ هَذَا، قَالَ: " فَلَا تَفْعَلُوا إِلَّا بِأُمِّ الْقُرْآنِ فَإِنَّهُ لَا صَلَاةَ لِمَنْ لَمْ يَقْرَأْ بِهَا " قَالَ عَلِيُّ بْنُ عُمَرَ هَذَا إِسْنَادٌ حَسَنٌ.
Ibn Ishaq narrated: Makhul narrated this hadith to me, and in it is that he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I think that you recite behind your imam when he is reciting aloud." We said: O Messenger of Allah, it is so (we do recite). The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do not do so; do not recite anything except Surah al-Fatihah, for whoever does not recite Surah al-Fatihah, his prayer is not valid."
