It is narrated from Abd al-Rahman bin Yazid (may Allah have mercy on him): I watched Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) and saw that he would rise (quickly) straight up on his toes, and in the first rak'ah, after finishing the prostrations, he would not sit.
Imam al-Bayhaqi (may Allah have mercy on him) said: The narration from Ibn Mas'ud is sahih (authentic), but following the Sunnah is better; and in the narration of al-Mughirah bin Hakim, Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) has explained that this is not a Sunnah of the prayer, and that he only did it because of an ailment. And Atiyyah al-Awfi is not used as evidence.
