أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ، أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو النَّضْرِ الْفَقِيهُ، ثنا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، ثنا الْقَعْنَبِيُّ، فِيمَا قُرِئَ عَلَى مَالِكٍ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ الْهَادِ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ التَّيْمِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ: كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَعْتَكِفُ، فَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ وَفِيهِ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: " قَدْ رَأَيْتُ هَذِهِ اللَّيْلَةَ، ثُمَّ أُنْسِيتُهَا وَقَدْ رَأَيْتُنِي أَسْجُدُ صَبِيحَتَهَا فِي مَاءٍ وَطِينٍ " قَالَ أَبُو سَعِيدٍ: فَأَبْصَرَتْ عَيْنَايَ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَعَلَى أَنْفِهِ وَجَبْهَتِهِ أَثَرُ الْمَاءِ وَالطِّينِ صَبِيحَةَ إِحْدَى وَعِشْرِينَ رَوَاهُ الْبُخَارِيُّ فِي الصَّحِيحِ، عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي أُوَيْسٍ، عَنْ مَالِكٍ، وَأَخْرَجَهُ مُسْلِمٌ مِنْ وَجْهَيْنِ آخَرَيْنِ، عَنِ ابْنِ الْهَادِ.
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to observe i'tikaf; then he mentioned the full hadith. In it is that he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I was shown this night, then I was made to forget it. However, I saw myself prostrating in the morning in mud (water and clay)." Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id (may Allah be pleased with him) says: With my own eyes I saw the traces of mud on the forehead and nose of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) on the morning of the twenty-first.
