Huzayl bin Shurahbil said: A man came to Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) and said: I freed a slave of mine, and I had made him a sa'ibah. He has died and left wealth. Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Muslims did not leave anyone as a sa'ibah; rather, it was in the Jahiliyyah that people were made sa'ibah. You are his heir and also entitled to his wala'. If you feel any sin or unease, we will deposit it in the public treasury (bayt al-mal).
(b) Alqamah narrates from Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him): If you refuse, there are many heirs here. And he deposited it in the public treasury.
