Bayhaqi 2139 — Praying Fajr early

Muhammad bin Amr bin Hasan (may Allah have mercy on him) said: Al-Hajjaj used to delay the prayer. I asked Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) and he said: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would offer the Zuhr prayer when the sun had passed the meridian, and he would offer the Asr prayer while the sun was still bright, and he would offer the Maghrib prayer when the sun had set. As for the Isha prayer, when he saw that the people were few, he would delay it, and when the people were many, he would lead it early. And he would offer the morning prayer while it was still dark.
