Chapter: One who slanders another with an offence carrying a hadd punishment or by denying his lineage, his testimony is rejected, and likewise one who frequently spreads tales or backbites

أَخْبَرَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ عَبْدَانَ، أنبأ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ الصَّفَّارُ، ثنا الْأَسْفَاطِيُّ، ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ يُونُسَ، ثنا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ عَيَّاشٍ، عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ جُرَيْجٍ، عَنْ أَبِي بَرْزَةَ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " يَا مَعْشَرَ مَنْ آمَنَ بِلِسَانِهِ وَلَمْ يَدْخُلِ الْإِيمَانُ فِي قَلْبِهِ، لَا تَغْتَابُوا الْمُسْلِمِينَ، وَلَا تَتَّبِعُوا عَوْرَاتِهِمْ، فَإِنَّ مَنِ اتَّبَعَ عَوْرَةَ أَخِيهِ الْمُسْلِمِ اتَّبَعَ اللهُ عَوْرَتَهُ، وَفَضَحَهُ وَهُوَ فِي بَيْتِهِ ".
Sayyiduna Abu Barzah (may Allah be pleased with him) said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O you who have believed with your tongues while faith has not entered your hearts! Do not backbite the Muslims and do not search out their faults, for whoever searches out the faults of his Muslim brother, Allah Almighty will search out his faults and disgrace him even inside his own house."
