Chapter: The poet who frequently attacks people out of anger or being denied
Bayhaqi 21126 — The poet who frequently attacks people out of anger
قَالَ الشَّافِعِيُّ رَحِمَهُ اللهُ: " رُدَّتْ شَهَادَتُهُ بِهِ ".
Imam al-Shafi'i (may Allah have mercy on him) said: "His testimony will be rejected because of it."
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْحَسَنِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ دَاوُدَ الْعَلَوِيُّ إِمْلَاءً، أنبأ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ الشَّرْقِيِّ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى الذُّهْلِيُّ، ثنا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ، عَنْ مَالِكِ بْنِ أَنَسٍ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيِّبِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: " لَيْسَ الشَّدِيدُ بِالصُّرَعَةِ، وَلَكِنَّ الشَّدِيدَ الَّذِيُ يَمْلِكُ نَفْسَهُ عِنْدَ الْغَضَبِ ". أَخْرَجَاهُ فِي الصَّحِيحِ مِنْ حَدِيثِ مَالِكٍ.
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The strong man is not the one who quickly throws (someone) down; rather, the strong man is the one who controls himself at the time of anger."
