أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْحَسَنِ عَلِيُّ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ عَبْدَانَ، أنبأ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ الصَّفَّارُ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ الْكَرَابِيسِيُّ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ ح وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو نَصْرِ بْنُ قَتَادَةَ، وَأَبُو بَكْرٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الْفَارِسِيُّ قَدِمَا عَلَيْنَا بَيْهَقَ وَهُمَا صَحِيحٌ سَمَاعُهُمَا قَالَا: أنبأ أَبُو عَمْرِو بْنُ مَطَرٍ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَيُّوبَ، أنبأ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ الْمُقَدَّمِيُّ، ثنا أَبُو مَعْشَرٍ الْبَصْرِيُّ - يَعْنِي: الْبَرَاءَ حَدَّثَنِي صَدَقَةُ بْنُ طَيْسَلَةَ، أَخْبَرَنِي مَعْنُ بْنُ ثَعْلَبَةَ الْمَازِنِيُّ، حَدَّثَنِي الْأَعْشَى الْمَازِنِيُّ قَالَ: أَتَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَأَنْشَدْتُهُ:.
Al-A'sha al-Mazini (may Allah be pleased with him) says: I came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and recited verses:
O Lord of the people and judge of the Arabs!
I have met a sharp-tongued person;
I was seeking provision in a state of alarm and distress.
The narration of al-Karabisi: I went out seeking provision, and she pursued me with spears; she broke the promise and was steeped in sin. They are the worst evil for whoever they overpower. So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), citing it as an example, said: "They are the worst evil for whoever they overpower."
O Lord of the people and judge of the Arabs!
