أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْحُسَيْنِ بْنُ الْفَضْلِ الْقَطَّانُ، بِبَغْدَادَ، أنبأ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ دَرَسْتَوَيْهِ، ثنا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ سُفْيَانَ، ثنا أَبُو صَالِحٍ، وَابْنُ بُكَيْرٍ قَالَا: ثنا اللَّيْثُ، حَدَّثَنِي يُونُسُ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، أَخْبَرَنِي الْهَيْثَمُ بْنُ أَبِي سِنَانٍ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ، وَهُوَ يَقُصُّ وَهُوَ يَقُولُ فِي قَصَصِهِ، وَهُوَ يَذْكُرُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: إِنَّ أَخًا لَكُمْ لَا يَقُولُ الرَّفَثَ - يَعْنِي بِذَلِكَ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ رَوَاحَةَ - قَالَ:.
Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), while narrating his stories, would mention the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him): "Your brother does not speak obscenity," meaning Abdullah bin Rawahah. The verses:
1 Among us is the Messenger of Allah, who recites His Book when the dawn of goodness breaks.
2 He guided us after blindness, and our hearts are certain of it: what he has said is bound to happen.
3 He spends the night with his sides apart from the bed, at the time when the sides of the disbelievers are heavy upon their beds, that is, clinging to them.
