أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ ثنا أَبُو الْحَسَنِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ مَنْصُورٍ ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ نَصْرٍ الْحَذَّاءُ حَدَّثَنِي عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْمَدِينِيُّ ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ زَكَرِيَّا بْنِ أَبِي زَائِدَةِ أَخْبَرَنِي الْأَعْمَشُ عَنْ عُمَارَةَ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَطِيَّةَ الْوَادِعِيِّ قَالَ: دَخَلْتُ مَعَ مَسْرُوقٍ عَلَى عَائِشَةَ أُمِّ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ فَقَالَ لَهَا مَسْرُوقٌ: رَجُلَانِ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كِلَاهُمَا لَا يَأْلُو عَنِ الْخَيْرِ أَحَدُهُمَا يُعَجِّلُ الْمَغْرِبَ وَيُعَجِّلُ الْإِفْطَارَ وَالْآخَرُ يُؤَخِّرُ الْمَغْرِبَ وَيُؤَخِّرُ الْإِفْطَارَ قَالَتْ: " أَيُّهُمَا الَّذِي يُعَجِّلُ الْمَغْرِبَ وَيُعَجِّلُ الْإِفْطَارَ؟ " قَالَ: ابْنُ مَسْعُودٍ، قَالَتْ: " هَكَذَا كَانَ يَصْنَعُ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " رَوَاهُ مُسْلِمٌ فِي الصَّحِيحِ عَنْ أَبِي كُرَيْبٍ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ زَكَرِيَّا.
It is narrated from Abu Atiyyah al-Wadi'i: I went with Masruq to the Mother of the Believers, Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her). Masruq said to the Mother of the Believers: There are two men among the Companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), both of whom have spared no effort (in seeking) good. One of them offers Maghrib early and breaks his fast early, and the other delays Maghrib and also breaks his fast late. Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: "Which of them is the one who offers Maghrib early and hastens to break the fast?" He said: Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him). Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: "This is how the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to do it."
