أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو نَصْرِ بْنُ قَتَادَةَ، أنبأ أَبُو عَمْرِو بْنُ نُجَيْدٍ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ بُكَيْرٍ، ثنا مَالِكٌ، عَنْ عَمِّهِ أَبِي سُهَيْلِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ: كُنْتُ أَسِيرُ مَعَ عُمَرَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ فَقَالَ: " مَا رَأْيُكَ فِي هَؤُلَاءِ الْقَدَرِيَّةِ؟ "، قَالَ: قُلْتُ: أَرَى أَنْ تَسْتَتِيبَهُمْ، فَإِنْ قَبِلُوا وَإِلَّا عَرَضْتَهُمْ عَلَى السَّيْفِ، فَقَالَ عُمَرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ: " ذَلِكَ رَأْيِي "، قَالَ مَالِكٌ: وَذَلِكَ أَيْضًا رَأْيِي..
Imam Malik (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates from his paternal uncle Abu Suhayl bin Malik (may Allah have mercy on him): I was walking with Umar bin Abd al-Aziz (may Allah have mercy on him), and he said: "What is your view about the Qadariyyah?" He said: "I would ask them to repent; if they accept, well and good, otherwise I would put them to the sword." Umar bin Abd al-Aziz (may Allah have mercy on him) said: "That is my view too." Imam Malik (may Allah have mercy on him) said: "That is my view too."
