It is narrated from Ibn Abi Mulaykah that Sayyiduna Umar bin al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) came to Makkah. He heard the voice of Sayyiduna Abu Mahdhurah (may Allah be pleased with him) and said: Woe to him, how loud his voice is! Does he not fear that his throat will burst? Then Sayyiduna Abu Mahdhurah (may Allah be pleased with him) came to him to inform him of the prayer, and he said: Woe to you, how loud your voice is! Do you not fear that your throat will burst? Sayyiduna Abu Mahdhurah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: O Commander of the Believers, I raised my voice only because of your arrival. He (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Your land is hot, so lead the people in prayer when the day has cooled a little. He said this two or three times (that is, offer the prayer in the cooler time). Then (when the intensity of the weather has lessened) give the call to prayer, then come down and offer two rak'ahs, then say the iqamah.
