أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ، فِي آخَرِينَ قَالُوا: أنبأ أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ، أنبأ الرَّبِيعُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ، أنبأ الشَّافِعِيُّ، أنبأ عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، عَنْ رَبِيعَةَ بْنِ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، عَنْ سُهَيْلِ بْنِ أَبِي صَالِحٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةُ، رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " قَضَى بِالْيَمِينِ مَعَ الشَّاهِدِ ". قَالَ عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ: فَذَكَرْتُ ذَلِكَ لِسُهَيْلٍ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي رَبِيعَةُ وَهُوَ عِنْدِي ثِقَةٌ أَنِّي حَدَّثَتْهُ إِيَّاهُ، وَلَا أَحْفَظُهُ، قَالَ عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ: وَقَدْ كَانَ أَصَابَ سُهَيْلًا عِلَّةٌ أَذْهَبَتْ بَعْضَ عَقْلِهِ، وَنَسِيَ بَعْضَ ⦗٢٨٤⦘ حَدِيثِهِ، وَكَانَ سُهَيْلٌ بَعْدُ يُحَدِّثُهُ عَنْ رَبِيعَةَ، عَنْهُ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ.
Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) says: "The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gave judgment with an oath and one witness."
Abd al-Aziz said: I mentioned that to Suhayl, and he said: Rabi'ah, who is trustworthy in my view, informed me that I narrated it to him, but I do not remember it. Abd al-Aziz said: An illness had afflicted Suhayl which took away part of his mind, and he forgot some of his hadith; afterwards Suhayl used to narrate it from Rabi'ah, from himself, from his father.
