قَالَ: وَحَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ، ثنا هُشَيْمٌ، أنبأ مُطَرِّفٌ، عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ أَنَّهُ كَانَ يَقُولُ فِي الْقَاذِفِ: " إِذَا فُرِغَ مِنْ ضَرْبِهِ فَأَكْذَبَ نَفْسَهُ، وَرَجَعَ عَنْ قَوْلِهِ: قُبِلَتْ شَهَادَتُهُ ".
Imam al-Sha'bi (may Allah have mercy on him) used to say about the slanderer: When the flogging is finished and he declares himself a liar and retracts his statement, his testimony will be accepted.
