أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو حَازِمٍ الْعَبْدَوِيُّ الْحَافِظُ، أنبأ أَبُو الْفَضْلِ بْنُ خِمَيْرَوَيْهِ، أنبأ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ نَجْدَةَ، ثنا سَعِيدُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ، ثنا هُشَيْمٌ، أنبأ مُجَالِدٌ، عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ، قَالَ: " كَانَ شُرَيْحٌ يُجِيزُ شَهَادَةَ النِّسْوَةِ عَلَى الِاسْتِهْلَالِ، وَمَا لَا يَنْظُرُ إِلَيْهِ الرِّجَالُ ". قَالَ الشَّيْخُ رَحِمَهُ اللهُ: وَهَذَا قَوْلُ الْكَافَّةِ.
Al-Sha'bi (may Allah have mercy on him) said: Qadi Shurayh (may Allah have mercy on him) used to accept the testimony of women concerning the cry of the newborn, and concerning what men do not look at.
