Ahmad bin Sa'id al-Ribati (may Allah have mercy on him) said: I came to Imam Ahmad bin Hanbal (may Allah have mercy on him), and he would not even raise his head towards me. I said: O Abu Abdullah! (Hadiths) have been written down from me in Khurasan; if you treat me in this way, people will abandon my hadiths. He said to me: O Ahmad! Is there any escape from it being called out on the Day of Resurrection: Where are Abdullah bin Tahir and his followers? So see where you will be among them. I said: O Abu Abdullah! He appointed me over the affairs of the ribat, and so I entered among them. The narrator said: He kept repeating the same words to me: O Ahmad! It is inevitable that on the Day of Resurrection it will be asked: Where are the followers of Abdullah bin Tahir? See where you will be among them!
