Ma'bad bin Hilal al-Anazi said: I came to Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) with a group of the people of Basrah — and he named them for us — to ask him about the hadith of intercession. He mentioned the hadith: the questions and answers, their leaving him, and their coming to al-Hasan bin Abi al-Hasan (al-Basri). Al-Hasan said: He narrated it to me just as he narrated it to you. Then he said: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I will come the fourth time and praise Allah with those praises, then I will fall down in prostration. It will be said to me: 'O Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him)! Raise your head; speak, and you will be heard; ask, and you will be given; intercede, and your intercession will be accepted.' I will say: 'O my Lord! Grant me permission concerning those who said "La ilaha illallah" (there is no god worthy of worship except Allah).' Allah Almighty will say: 'That is not for you; but by My might, My grandeur and My greatness, I will surely bring out of it whoever said "La ilaha illallah" (there is no god worthy of worship except Allah).'"
