Sayyiduna Abdullah bin al-Zubayr (may Allah be pleased with him) says: Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) raced against me and I won. I said: By the Ka'bah, I have won! Then he raced against me again. He said: I have won, by the Lord of the Ka'bah! When he dismounted, he wanted to strike me and said: "You swear by the Ka'bah!"
(b) Talhah bin Ubaydullah, relating the story of a Bedouin, says that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: 'Aflaha wa abihi in sadaq' (He has succeeded, by his father, if he has spoken the truth). This saying is from before the prohibition; or it is meant as ordinary speech and an oath is not intended; or it is not meant as the veneration for which an oath is sworn, but rather for emphasis; or the word 'Lord' is implied here.
