Al-Sha'bi (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates from Muhammad bin Safwan (may Allah be pleased with him) that he passed by the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) carrying two rabbits hanging, and said: "O Messenger of Allah, I hunted two rabbits and found no iron implement with which to slaughter them, so I slaughtered them with a stone. May I eat them?" He said: "Eat."
It has also been narrated from al-Sha'bi from Jabir bin Abdullah, but the hadith of Ibn Safwan is more authentic; al-Bukhari said this.
