The father of Abd al-Rahman bin Abis asked Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her): Did the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbid (the meat of sacrifices)?
(b) Abd al-Rahman bin Abis bin Rabi'ah narrates from his father that Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) was asked: Did the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbid eating the meat of sacrifices beyond three days? She said: He forbade it only once, in a year when the people were hungry, so that the rich would feed the poor. We used to take out the trotters (of the sacrificial animal) after fifteen days and eat them. I asked: Why did you do that? The narrator says: Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) laughed and said: The family of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) never ate their fill of wheat bread with a condiment for three days until he (peace and blessings be upon him) met Allah, the Mighty and Majestic.
