Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) says: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) "had forbidden us from eating the meat of sacrifices beyond three days." I returned home from a journey, and my wife said: After you (left), the people were given permission. But I did not believe her until I had asked my brother Qatadah bin al-Nu'man (may Allah be pleased with him), who had taken part in Badr. Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him) sent word to me: Eat your food; your wife has spoken the truth, for the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) has given the people permission for it.
