Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id bin Malik al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) returned from a journey, and some of the meat of the sacrifices was presented to him. He said: "I will not eat it until I ask." So he went to his maternal brother, Sayyiduna Qatadah bin al-Nu'man (may Allah be pleased with him), who had taken part in Badr, and asked him about it. He said: "After you left, a command came that cancelled the earlier prohibition, which was: 'The meat of sacrifices is not to be eaten beyond three days.'"
