أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو أَحْمَدَ الْمِهْرَجَانِيُّ، أنبأ أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ الْمُزَكِّي، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، ثنا ابْنُ بُكَيْرٍ، ثنا مَالِكٌ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، أَنَّ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ سَأَلَ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُمَا عَمَّا لَفَظَ الْبَحْرُ فَنَهَاهُ عَنْ أَكْلِهِ. قَالَ نَافِعٌ: ثُمَّ انْقَلَبَ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ فَدَعَا بِالْمُصْحَفِ فَقَرَأَ: {أُحِلَّ لَكُمْ صَيْدُ الْبَحْرِ وَطَعَامُهُ} [المائدة: ٩٦]. قَالَ نَافِعٌ: فَأَرْسَلَنِي عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ إِلَى عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ إِنَّهُ لَا بَأْسَ بِهِ فَكُلْهُ.
Abd al-Rahman bin Abi Hurayrah asked Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) about game cast out by the sea, and he said: It should not be eaten. Nafi' (may Allah have mercy on him) said: Then Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) brought the Qur'an and recited this verse: "Lawful to you is the game of the sea and its food" [Surah al-Ma'idah: 96]. Nafi' (may Allah have mercy on him) said: Then Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) sent me to call Abd al-Rahman bin Abi Hurayrah, (to tell him) that there is no harm in eating it.
