أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ، وَأَبُو زَكَرِيَّا بْنُ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، وَأَبُو بَكْرٍ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ، وَأَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ السُّلَمِيُّ قَالَوا: ثنا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ، أنبأ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْحَكَمِ، أنبأ ابْنُ وَهْبٍ، أَخْبَرَنِي عُمَرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، أَنَّ نَافِعًا حَدَّثَهُ، أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُمَا قَالَ: غَزَوْنَا فَجُعْنَا حَتَّى إِنَّ الْجَيْشَ يَقْتَسِمُ التَّمْرَةَ وَالتَّمْرَتَيْنِ، فَبَيْنَا نَحْنُ عَلَى شَطِّ الْبَحْرِ إِذْ رَمَى بِحُوتٍ مَيْتٍ فَاقْتَطَعَ النَّاسُ مِنْهُ مَا شَاءُوا مِنْ لَحْمِهِ أَوْ شَحْمِهِ وَهُوَ مِثْلُ الظَّرِبِ، فَبَلَغَنِي أَنَّ النَّاسَ لَمَّا قَدِمُوا عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَخْبَرُوهُ فَقَالَ لَهُمْ: " أَمَعَكُمْ مِنْهُ شَيْءٌ "؟.
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: We went out on a military expedition and felt severe hunger, so much so that one or two dates each were distributed in the army. Meanwhile we were on the seashore. When the sea cast out a dead fish, the people cut from its meat or fat as much as they wished. That fish was like a hillock. I learned that when the people came and told the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), he (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "Do you have any of it with you?"
