Bayhaqi 18917 — A man who finds his game still alive

Sayyiduna Adi bin Hatim (may Allah be pleased with him) said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When you send your dog after game, mention the name of Allah. If the dog holds the game for you and you find it alive, slaughter it; and if the dog has killed the game but not eaten from it, then eat that game. If you find another dog with your dog and it has killed the game, do not eat, for you do not know which of them killed it. And if you shoot game with an arrow, mention the name of Allah. If the game stays out of your sight for a day and you find in it the mark of your arrow, eat if you wish; but if you find it drowned in water, then do not eat."
