Isma'il bin Ibrahim bin Uqbah narrates from his paternal uncle Musa bin Uqbah the same meaning as this story, with some additions: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) called Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) to send him to Quraysh while he was at a place called Baldah. Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), I fear for my life. Send Sayyiduna Uthman bin Affan (may Allah be pleased with him)." So he (peace and blessings be upon him) sent Sayyiduna Uthman bin Affan (may Allah be pleased with him). When he met Aban bin Sa'id, he gave him protection, seated him in front of him on his horse and brought him to Quraysh. Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) spoke to Quraysh as the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) had ordered, and Quraysh sent Suhayl bin Amr for peace. At that time there were many Muslims from the people of Makkah in Makkah, and they invited Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) to perform tawaf of the House of Allah, but Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) refused to perform tawaf without the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). He came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), bringing Suhayl bin Amr with him so that they could make peace. He mentioned the story of the peace and the writing of the agreement. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) sent Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) off with the written agreement. Then he mentioned the throwing of stones and arrows between the two sides, the polytheists holding Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) hostage, and the Muslims holding Suhayl bin Amr hostage.
Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) called the Muslims to the pledge of allegiance. When Quraysh saw this, Allah cast terror into their hearts, so they released those they had held hostage and invited him to peace. He made peace with them and had the agreement written.
