Bayhaqi 18336 — A captive of unknown lineage does not inherit

Imam al-Sha'bi (may Allah have mercy on him) said that Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) wrote to Judge Shurayh (may Allah have mercy on him) that no one should be made an heir of a captive except through proof, even if the woman brought him wrapped in her cloth.
