It is narrated from Abu al-Malih (may Allah have mercy on him) that Ubaydullah bin Ziyad went to visit Sayyiduna Ma'qil bin Yasar (may Allah be pleased with him) in his illness, and Sayyiduna Ma'qil (may Allah be pleased with him) said to him: I am narrating to you a hadith which I would not have told you if my death were not near. I heard from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him); he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever is placed in charge of the Muslims and does not strive for them and does not act sincerely for their good will not enter Paradise with his people."
