Sayyiduna Sa'id bin Sa'd bin Ubadah (may Allah be pleased with him) says: There lived in our neighbourhood a crippled man who fell upon one of the slave women of his household. Sayyiduna Sa'd bin Ubadah (may Allah be pleased with him) went and told the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) about it, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Give him a hundred lashes." It was said: O Messenger of Allah! He is weak and crippled; if he is given a hundred lashes he will die. So he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Take a broom that has a hundred strands, then strike him with it a single blow."
