أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْحَسَنِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ بْنِ أَحْمَدَ الْفَقِيهُ بِالطَّابِرَانِ، أَنْبَأَ أَبُو عَلِيٍّ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ الصَّوَّافِ، ثَنَا أَبُو يَعْقُوبَ إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ مَيْمُونٍ الْحَرْبِيُّ، ثَنَا أَبُو غَسَّانَ، ثَنَا زِيَادٌ الْبَكَّائِيُّ، ثَنَا مُطَرِّفُ بْنُ طَرِيفٍ، عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ الْجَهْمِ أَبِي الْجَهْمِ، مَوْلَى الْبَرَاءِ بْنِ عَازِبٍ، عَنِ الْبَرَاءِ بْنِ عَازِبٍ، قَالَ: بَعَثَنِي عَلِيٌّ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ إِلَى النَّهْرِ إِلَى الْخَوَارِجِ، فَدَعَوْتُهُمْ ثَلَاثًا قَبْلَ أَنْ نُقَاتِلَهُمْ.
Sayyiduna al-Bara' bin Azib (may Allah be pleased with him) says: Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) sent me to the people of al-Nahr to fight the Khawarij, and I invited them (to return) three times before we fought them.
