Abdullah bin Shaddad bin al-Hadi (may Allah have mercy on him) said that a woman of the Ansar came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: "O Messenger of Allah! We settled in this house of ours while we were many, and we perished; relations between us were good, and then our conduct turned bad; our wealth was abundant, and then we became poor." He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Will you not move away from it, as it is blameworthy?" She said: "O Messenger of Allah! Then what should we do with it?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Sell it or give it away as a gift." Abu Sulayman al-Khattabi (may Allah have mercy on him) said: It is possible that he told them to leave it so that no wrong notion would settle in their hearts; when they moved away, the delusion would come to an end.
