أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ ثنا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ، ثنا الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الدُّورِيُّ ثنا أَبُو عَامِرٍ عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ بْنُ عَمْرٍو الْعَقَدِيُّ ثنا زُهَيْرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَقِيلٍ، ح. وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ الْقَاضِي ثنا الْحَارِثُ بْنُ أَبِي أُسَامَةَ ثنا زَكَرِيَّا بْنُ عَدِيٍّ ثنا عُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عَمْرٍو الرَّقِّيُّ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَقِيلٍ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيَمَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ طَلْحَةَ عَنْ عَمِّهِ عِمْرَانَ بْنِ طَلْحَةَ، عَنْ أُمِّهِ حَمْنَةَ بِنْتِ جَحْشٍ قَالَتْ: كُنْتُ أُسْتَحَاضُ حَيْضَةً كَثِيرَةً شَدِيدَةً فَأَتَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَسْتَفْتِيهِ وَأُخْبِرُهُ فَوَجَدْتُهُ فِي بَيْتِ أُخْتِي زَيْنَبَ بِنْتِ جَحْشٍ فَقُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنِّي امْرَأَةٍ أُسْتَحَاضُ حَيْضَةً كَثِيرَةً شَدِيدَةً فَمَا تَرَى فِيهَا، قَدْ مَنَعَتْنِي الصَّلَاةَ وَالصَّوْمَ قَالَ: " أَنْعَتُ لَكِ الْكُرْسُفَ فَإِنَّهُ يُذْهِبُ الدَّمَ " قَالَتْ: هُوَ أَكْثَرُ مِنْ ذَلِكَ قَالَ: " فَاتَّخِذِي ثَوْبًا " قَالَتْ: هُوَ أَكْثَرُ مِنْ ذَلِكَ إِنَّمَا أَثُجُّ ثَجًّا قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " سَآمُرُكِ بِأَمْرَيْنِ أَيَّهُمَا فَعَلْتِ أَجْزَأَ عَنْكِ مِنَ الْآخَرِ فَإِنْ قَوِيتِ عَلَيْهِمَا فَأَنْتِ أَعْلَمُ " فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " إِنَّمَا هَذِهِ رَكْضَةٌ مِنْ رَكَضَاتِ الشَّيْطَانِ فَتَحَيَّضِي سِتَّةَ أَوْ سَبْعَةَ أَيَّامٍ فِي عِلْمِ اللهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ ثُمَّ اغْتَسِلِي حَتَّى إِذَا رَأَيْتِ أَنَّكِ قَدْ طَهُرْتِ وَاسْتَنْقَأْتِ فَصَلِّي ثَلَاثًا وَعِشْرِينَ لَيْلَةً أَوْ أَرْبَعًا وَعِشْرِينَ لَيْلَةً وَأَيَّامَهَا فَإِنَّ ذَلِكَ يُجْزِئُكِ وَكَذَلِكَ فَافْعَلِي كُلَّ شَهْرٍ كَمَا تَحِيضُ النِّسَاءُ وَكَمَا يَطْهُرْنَ مِيقَاتُ حَيْضِهِنَّ وَطُهْرِهِنَّ، وَإِنْ قَوِيتِ عَلَى أَنْ تُؤَخِّرِي الظُّهْرَ وَتُعَجِّلِي الْعَصْرَ فَتَغْتَسِلِينَ فَتَجْمَعِينَ بَيْنَ الصَّلَاتَيْنِ الظُّهْرِ وَالْعَصْرِ وَتُؤَخِّرِينَ الْمَغْرِبَ وَتُعَجِّلِينَ الْعِشَاءَ ثُمَّ تَغْتَسِلِينَ وَتَجْمَعِينَ بَيْنَ الصَّلَاتَيْنِ فَافْعَلِي وَصُومِي إِنْ قَدَرْتِ عَلَى ذَلِكَ " قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " وَهَذَا أَعْجَبُ الْأَمْرَيْنِ إِلِيَّ "..
Sayyidah Hamnah bint Jahsh (may Allah be pleased with her) said: I used to have very heavy istihadah (bleeding outside the menstrual period). I came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) to ask him for a ruling and to inform him of it, and I found him in the house of my sister, Zaynab bint Jahsh (may Allah be pleased with her). I said: O Messenger of Allah, I am a woman with very heavy istihadah; what is your ruling about it? It has kept me from prayer and fasting. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Use cotton, for it absorbs the blood." She said: O Messenger of Allah, it is more than that. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Then bind a cloth." She said: It is even more than that; I flow profusely. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I will order you to do two things; whichever of them you do will suffice you for the other. If you are able to do both, you know best." Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "This is only one of the kicks of Satan. Observe menstruation for six or seven days, according to the knowledge of Allah, then perform ghusl; and when you see that you have become thoroughly pure, pray for twenty-three or twenty-four nights and days. That will suffice you. Do likewise every month, just as menstruating women do, and as they become pure at the times of their purity and menstruation. And if you are able to delay Zuhr and hasten Asr, then perform ghusl and combine the two prayers, Zuhr and Asr; and delay Maghrib and hasten Isha, then perform ghusl and combine the two prayers. Do so, and fast, if you are able to do that." The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "This is the more pleasing of the two matters to me."
