Mughirah bin Hakim al-San'ani narrated from his father that in Sana'a a woman's husband went away and left in her care a son of his from another wife, a boy called Asil. After her husband's departure, the woman took up with another man, and she said to her lover: "Kill this boy, for he will disgrace us." He refused, so she told him she would end the relationship and pressed him, and then two men (the woman's lover and another man), the woman and her servant got together to kill him. They killed him, cut him into pieces, put them in a leather bag, and threw it into a well near the village that had no water in it. Then the woman started wailing: "My child has gone missing." People came and began searching for the child. A man passed by the well and saw green flies coming out of it. When the leather bag was taken out of it, a trembling seized the woman's lover. We seized him and imprisoned him, and that man, the woman, the other man and their servant confessed to the killing. Ya'la (may Allah be pleased with him), who was the governor of Sana'a at that time, wrote all of this to Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him), and he (may Allah be pleased with him) ordered that all of them be killed and said: "If all of Sana'a had taken part in it, I would have had them all killed."
Sa'id bin Wahb (may Allah have mercy on him) said: Some people went out (on a journey), and a man accompanied them; they returned, and he was not with them. His family accused them, so Shurayh (may Allah have mercy on him) said: "(Bring) your witnesses that they killed your man; otherwise they will swear by Allah that they did not kill him." They brought them to Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him). Sa'id said: I was with him. He separated them (and questioned them), and they confessed. I heard Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) say: "I am Abu Hasan, the chief." And he ordered that they be killed.
