Bayhaqi 15954 — Reports on one who kills or mutilates his slave

Amr bin Shu'ayb said that Abu Bakr and Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) used to say: A free man will not be killed for a slave; rather, he will be lashed, imprisoned, and his share among the Muslims will be removed.
All of these chains are weak; no proof can be taken from them. The position of most scholars is that a man is not to be killed for his slave.
