Qays bin Abi Hazim narrates: I was present with Abu Bakr al-Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him) when a man said to him: O successor of the Messenger of Allah! This man wants to take all of my wealth. Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) said to him: From his wealth, only as much as suffices you is yours. He said: O successor of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! Did the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) not say: "You and your wealth belong to your father"? Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Be content with what Allah has chosen for you.
Others narrated it from al-Mundhir bin Ziyad and said in it: He meant by that only maintenance (nafaqah). Al-Mundhir bin Ziyad is da'if (weak).
