(a) It is narrated from Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) that Fatimah bint Abi Hubaysh (may Allah be pleased with her) came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: I am a woman who has prolonged bleeding (istihadah); I do not become pure. Shall I abandon the prayer? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "No, that is from a vein; it is not menstruation. When menstruation comes, abandon the prayer, and when it has gone, wash the blood off yourself and pray."
(b) There is a difference in the text of this narration: he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "No, that is a vein; but abandon the prayer for as many days as you used to menstruate, then take a ritual bath and pray." (c) In the narration of Abu Usamah there is doubt.
