It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Sayyiduna Ibrahim (peace be upon him) told only three lies, two of them concerning the Essence of Allah Almighty: one, 'I am ill' [Surah al-Saffat: 89], and the other, 'Rather, this biggest one of them did it' [Surah al-Anbiya: 63]. And one concerning Sayyidah Sarah (may Allah be pleased with her), when he was in the land of a tyrant ruler and Sayyidah Sarah (may Allah be pleased with her) was with him. She was extremely beautiful. Sayyiduna Ibrahim (peace be upon him) said: 'This man is a tyrant; if he learns that you are my wife, he will seize you. If he asks you, say that you are my sister, for you are my sister in Islam, since I do not know of any Muslim on earth besides me and you.' When Sayyiduna Ibrahim (peace be upon him) entered his land, some of the tyrant's people saw Sayyidah Sarah (may Allah be pleased with her), and they came to their king and said: 'A woman has come into your land who is fit only for you.' So he sent his agents and had her brought, and Sayyiduna Ibrahim (peace be upon him) became occupied in prayer. When Sayyidah Sarah (may Allah be pleased with her) was brought to him, he could not reach her with his hand; rather, his hands were seized. That tyrant said to Sayyidah Sarah (may Allah be pleased with her): 'Pray that my hands are released, and I will not harm you.' So Sayyidah Sarah (may Allah be pleased with her) prayed. He wanted to make a move again, and his hands were seized even more tightly than before. He again asked her to pray, and a third time he intended to commit the act, and the third time he was seized even more tightly. He said: 'Pray to Allah that my hands are released; by Allah, I will not harm you.' So Sayyidah Sarah (may Allah be pleased with her) prayed again, and his hands were released. Then he called the one who had brought her and said: 'You have brought me a devil, not a human being. Expel her from my land, and give her Hajar (may Allah be pleased with her) as well.' She came walking, and when Sayyiduna Ibrahim (peace be upon him) saw that she had come, he said: 'Wait, what happened?' She said: 'Allah restrained the hands of the tyrant, and he has given a servant girl.'" Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "That is your mother, O sons of the water of the sky!"
