أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ، أنا أَبُو النَّضْرِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ الْفَقِيهُ نا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الدَّارِمِيُّ، نا مُوسَى بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ، نا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ، نا أَبُو قَزَعَةَ سُوَيْدُ بْنُ حُجَيْرٍ الْبَاهِلِيُّ عَنْ حَكِيمِ بْنِ مُعَاوِيَةَ الْقُشَيْرِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ: قُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، مَا حَقُّ زَوْجَةِ أَحَدِنَا عَلَيْهِ؟ قَالَ: " أَنْ تُطْعِمَهَا إِذَا طَعِمْتَ، وَتَكْسُوَهَا إِذَا اكْتَسَيْتَ، وَلَا تَضْرِبِ الْوَجْهَ وَلَا تُقَبِّحْ وَلَا تَهْجُرْ إِلَّا فِي الْبَيْتِ ".
Hakim bin Mu'awiyah al-Qushayri (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates from his father, Mu'awiyah bin Haydah (may Allah be pleased with him), that he said: I said: O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! What is the right of wives over their husbands? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Feed her when you eat, clothe her when you clothe yourself, do not strike the face, do not revile her, and do not desert her except within the house."
