Bayhaqi 14685 — Reports on scattering gifts at celebrations

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Qurt (may Allah be pleased with him) says that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The greatest day with Allah is the Day of Sacrifice, then the Day of al-Qarr, which is the day after it." The narrator says: We brought five or six sacrificial camels to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and they began drawing close to him, to see which of them he would begin with. When they fell on their sides, he (peace and blessings be upon him) said something softly which I did not understand, so I asked the person next to me: What did the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say? He said that he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever wishes may cut off a piece."
Its chain is hasan (good), except that it differs in meaning from the scattering (nithar), and Allah knows best.
